We decided to stay in the cool room, do yoga, meditate and finish syncing up our computers, so it was a late start for the Pods.  Lucky for us the weather had cooled a bit by then, so we headed off with our little map that made no sense and went to see what the Universe had in mind for us today.

First stop was to find some food.  We located the Lau Pa Sat Market, a typical Singaporean food court featuring over 100 different little food stalls each with their own offerings.  Muslim,  Philipino, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Italian – every kind of food you could imagine.  We were tempted by the dosas, but knew we'd have plenty of Indian food in just a few days.  So we opted for some delicious Chinese food with our fresh coconut juice and fruit for dessert.  (You can see the food photos in a different Blog Entry called "Singapore Food".)  Everyone has told us that you can eat all the food and even drink the tap water here in Singapore.  It's a really clean city, remember?

Here are a couple of the stalls that offered some interesting choices for those with bold taste buds...

With our bellies full of Chinese rice and veggies, we headed out to see what we'd find next.  We passed a beautiful building that was having an exhibit on Urban Planning for Singapore.  We popped in and saw a wonderful show on the conscientious urban planning for Singapore.  In the following photo they showed some inspirational photos of parks and plans that they liked.  We were delighted to find our favorite floral archway from Brisbane, Australia they have pictured. (Here's our own picture of it: BrisbaneBlog)

They had made a wonderful miniature architectural model of the country out of little wood blocks...

We somehow ended up in China Town even though we were headed for Orchard St., the major shopping center of Singapore.  We don't really like to shop, so it was just as well.

Here's a bright interesting street on Sago St. and Smith, full of fabulous Chinese eating opportunities.  We're hoping to come back tomorrow to have dinner here.

A sampling of baby conch and clams waiting to be stir fried...

This place looked great but we were still full, so couldn't try anything.  They're famous for their stir fried stingray.  Notice how everything is served on banana leaves, which make for very cool plates.
