It's a beautiful Saturday and everyone just lounges
around and does major relaxation in whatever way they prefer.
It's the first morning where there aren't any fireworks, so we're all
feeling at ease. There's a lovely rooftop garden here above our
house and it's a beautiful place to bring your book or meditation CD's
and feel totally private and mellow.
Later in the afternoon a
small group of us head out to the "Jardin Botanico" which consists of
220 acres situated in a large canyon known as "El Charco del
Ingenio". It's a series of walkways that go alongside the Canyon
and exhibit different species of plants and cactus. We had a
great walk up to the Canyon and wandered along the many meandering
paths.
We saw some beautiful cacti...
But the next two were our favorites...
The Dalai Lama had just been here last year and dedicated this plaque...
It
loosely translates to: "Like the waves of the water, the
vibration of the areas of peace produce a movement that in the near
future, will create a new consciousness in humanity, a consciousness of
peace."
On the way back we had our first dose of big rain. The
cobblestone streets get very slippery in the rain and we had to
carefully walk back down to the city. We saw this beautiful paper
maple in a variagated color that we've never seen.
We
stopped at a restaurant in the center of town and sampled 3 of their
soups, their gorditas (thick corn tortillas with 2 cheeses) and their
pesce con ajo (fish with garlic).
When the rains stopped we ventured out again later that day and heard this wonderful xylophone played by these two men...
Christian stopped for a haircut (35 pesos - $3.50)...
And Bowie had his boots shined in the main square...
We still have a few days to explore the town before the Pods head back to Santa Barbara, Bowie goes
back to Prescott, Arizona and Joss, Malia and Christian continue on to
Mexico City to meet up with Malia's Mom, Diane and celebrate her 50th
birthday in Zihuatenejo. Then Joss continues to Tolum in the Yucatan to perform with Dave Stringer for a yoga retreat.
Here's a little bit of a typical moment for you...
This has certainly been a memorable
and fabulous adventure and all of our culinary skills and language
skills have grown immensely. We're all so grateful for having had this special time together. We'll never forget it!
