When our friend Marian invited us to go see "Varekai", the latest traveling Cirque de Soleil extravaganza, we jumped at the chance. And Wow, what a show. They erected a huge show tent outside of the Rod Laver Tennis Arena and the show they put on was fabulous.
Lucky for us, they did a little preview show in Federation Square a few days earlier. We were able to capture a few of the performers in action, otherwise we weren't allowed to take photos inside the big tent. And the set for the show inside the big tent was primitively phenomenal with exotic catwalks, elaborate hanging overhead cages, terrific lighting and a total sense of wonder and amazement.
We saw this poster on a wall and knew that we wanted to see the Dalai Lama on tour here in Melbourne. He spoke of compassion and kindness and was well received by the huge crowd.
