Today was a full day. We went back over to the harbor on our side and saw this amazing Swedish ship docked...
Then we went back on the Ferry and over to Central Hong Kong...
Here's the skyline we saw from the Ferry (4 photos "stitched" together)...
Then we walked through the Financial District again and took these photos of a few of the skyscrapers - quite a contrast to the other side of Hong Kong where our hotel was!
These trolley cars are unique looking because they're so thin and always packed with passengers. We liked this photo with the Tiffany & Co. and Louis Vuitton stores in the background and the quaint trolley in the foreground...
The ride up to Victoria Peak was quite thrilling. The Peak Train, a double reversible funicular railway, was first opened in 1888 by the Governor, Sir William Des Voeux. It was originally powered by coal fired steam boilers. In 1926 the steam power was replaced by electrical power. In 1948 the train was replaced with a 62 seat, all metal tramcar and in 1989 microprocessor control technology was introduced. The latest tramcars now carry 120 passengers. The ride up the hill is incredibly steep. The floor of the trolley is even slanted to compensate for the tilt up the hill. And when you come down, everyone sits backwards, so they don't fall out of the seats...
Here's the view from the top...
We stayed until night time so that we could see Hong Kong all lit up...
Hong Kong prides itself on the night skyline. Most of the highest buildings have light shows with colored and pulsating lights running up and down their length. Quite a show! We caught it from the top of the peak- here's a little of what it was like:
Click the blue movie to watch the buildings change color...
At the top of the Victoria Peak they have newly constructed a pretty crazy shop, dining and more shopping gallery mall. We played some video games while we were waiting for it to get dark outside. Here was our favorite game... Click on the golf video to watch...
